My absolute favorite watercolor artist, John Marin, was a master at creating atmospheric landscapes, incorporating other media -- graphite, charcoal, crayon -- with his watercolor washes. Like Marin, I have used a limited palette in painting these small, moody landscapes. The paintings portray real and imagined pueblo villages and mission churches. The series also includes "Flowerscapes" -- large-as-life portraits of cactus blossoms and other flowers natural to the high desert.
